Clatsop County Jail was a working jail from 1914 through 1976 in Astoria, OR. It was added to the National Register of Historical Places in 1983. In 2010 it opened as a Oregon Film Museum, where you can learn about the many filming locations and productions in and around Astoria. The jail was a set for 3 movies; Goonies, Short Circuit and Come See The Paradise.
But like many old jail houses or prisons, that have ghosts and paranormal activity, this one is no exception.
Psychic Medium Jennifer Von Behren read the energy of the building and picked up 2 male ghosts and a female ghost.
The male ghosts are mainly upstairs and the female ghost is downstairs by the old jail cells area. She is dressed up like a boss lady, who works there, however she may be residual energy.
The upstairs is off limits to the public, as it is mainly used for storage, but I was allowed to take a quick look. You can find additional jail cells, including the solitary confinement, up there.
Jennifer picked up one of the male ghosts, who looked to be from the 1930's, in the solitary confinement. Jennifer felt that he was trapped in there and he was making a lot of noise. He is haunting the place and was trying to scare Jennifer with his intense stare, however his energy wasn't bad according to Jennifer.
Jennifer could also hear someone bouncing something such as a ball up there.
This building has lot of activity, but it is mostly residual according to Jennifer Von Behren. She also felt that there was a "basement", where someone would hide. I was told that the only thing the building had below was a boiler room, which in most places has paranormal activity.
I was able to get responses with the voice recorder in the hallway by the downstairs jail cells and also in one of the jail cells.
If you are a big Goonies fan visiting Astoria, this place is well worth the visit. You can find interactive film sets, mug shot area, props, costumes, photos and Goonies memorabilia in the old jail cells. Cell number 2 was where the Fratelli gang was housed.
You can also find the old Goonies house, now a private residence, on 38th street in Astoria.
